The Boondocker Hotel 6 has one window and two doors and a maximum center height of 6' 0, which is a little bit smaller than the average height of the 110 other 6 person tents we have studied. With 82 square feet of space inside, it is significantly smaller than some other 6-person tents, and it would be quite tight for you and, up to five other campers during the whole of the 3-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, smaller tents like this one are a nice choice for campers who appreciate spending heaps of time outside of the tent enjoying the fresh air.

Many of the great points about dome tents are, that they are under normal circumstances not too heavy, making them simple to carry around. In most all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In calm weather, you could do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are the most commonly seen of all the other types of tents you will see when camping. They tend to do better in the rain than other types, allowing rain to easily slide off the sloped walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, resulting in the rain pooling on the top of the tent. The most basic dome tent will have a rectangular footprint, sloped sides two or more poles which cross in the middle of the roof. Because of the way they are made, it is generally considered that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Beneath you can find a list of the tent's pros and cons.

  1. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Offers you a place to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  2. Internal storage. It is nice to see Eureka has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.
  3. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  4. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 68D 185T Polyester taffeta, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to tears and punctures. Also, the material has a 3000 mm waterproofing rating, which is pretty good for most circumstances.
  5. Includes FootPrint. It is quite rare to see a footprint included with a tent. It is strongly suggested to always use a footprint, so not having to buy one is a plus.
  6. Breathable. The Boondocker Hotel's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the warmer months.
  7. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1800mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.

  1. Not spacious. With a floor area of 82 square feet, the Boondocker Hotel 6 is smaller than quite a lot of the 110 other 6 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Only one room. The Boondocker Hotel is recommended for 6 people, some other tents of a similar size have more than one room allowing for a little more privacy.

Value for money: As far as value for your dollar, this tent is a more costly than the average cost of all the one hundred and seven, six-person tents we have taken a look at, this by itself is not a negative thing. One should also take into account other factors in detail, as we do with every tent.

When we measure the overall score of a tent, we examine a good deal of areas, searching for points where the tent could shine against other comparable tents and where it is lacking. On this occasion, with an overall score of 4.4 and the price details above, we can see that with a cost of $649.95 The Boondocker Hotel 6 is a fair deal though it could be thought of as quite costly when set side by side with comparable tents.
