Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Prairie Breeze 9 has six windows and one door and a peak center height of 7' 0, which is a little bit bigger than the average height of the 9 various 9 person tents we have studied. With 140 square feet of space inside, it is a little bit smaller than some other 9-person tents, and it could be a little cramped for you and, up to eight other campers throughout the 3-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, larger tents like this one can generally make a very nice choice for groups that like having loads of room inside.

One of the awesome things about cabin tents is, that the walls are near vertical creating a larger interior, this allows for plenty of headroom at the sides of the tent, making it feel much larger than a dome tent, also, they tend to have wider floor areas, so they are great for families. Normally cabin tents will be used by people going on a camping trip in a car or a truck as they are quite heavy when compared to dome tents. It dose though make them better suited to colder months. Lot’s of cabin tents have more than just one room to stay in, just like the Coleman Prairie Breeze two-room tent

Below you can check out an account of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Prairie Breeze can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Internal storage. It is good to see Coleman has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your gear.
  3. More than one room. The Prairie Breeze is designed with two rooms, allowing for more privacy. Perfect for a large family and groups who do not want to be all sleeping together.
  4. Removable divider. For those who want to maximize all of the available space that the Prairie Breeze provides, the divider can be removed to have one large room for everyone to share.
  5. More than one window. With 6 windows it is easier to keep the tent cool on a hot summers night.
  6. Breathable. The Prairie Breeze's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the warmer months.
  7. Tons of Positive Reviews The Prairie Breeze 9 has Plenty of very good Reviews

CONS

  1. Susceptible to wind. Because of its size and shape, the Prairie Breeze may not do well in strong winds if it is not firmly secured with the provided guy lines and stakes. Even though the tent is listed as freestanding in all but very calm conditions, one would need to stake and tie it down correctly.
  2. Not spacious. With a floor area of 140 square feet, the Prairie Breeze 9 is smaller than quite a lot of the 9 other 9 person tents we have looked at.
  3. Only one door. With just one exit to get outside in the middle of the night, it could disturb other campers that are sleeping.
  4. No Vestibules. If you want to keep your dirty shoes, clothes, and backpacks protected from the rain etc, you need keep them inside the tent.
  5. Rainfly does not wholly cover the tent. The rainfly only covers the ceiling and part of the tent body from the top. Meaning it may not protect against heavy rain.
  6. Poor Heat Retention. The general design of the Coleman's Prairie Breezes interior is designed to easily let air in and out. Therefore, it cannot keep heat inside, making it unsuitable for use in cold weather.
  7. Heavy. Even though heavy is not in it self a negative, it is worth noting that the Prairie Breeze 9, weighs 35 pounds and has a packed size of 41 x 14 x 9 inches. obviously it is designed for camping with a car and would not be super simple to set up on your own.
  8. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, The floor may be made of PE (Polyethylene) tub style welded floor but it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, more so on rough terrain.

CONCLUSION

If you came to this website looking for an endorsement on this particular tent, our view is, it would make for an awesome purchase. In case you simply happened to land on this website while browsing for a new tent having never heard of this manufacture or this tent before, it is possibly a good idea to check out a few other comparable tents.

Value for money: When thinking about value for your dollar, this tent is more costly than the normal cost of all the nine, nine-person tents we have looked at, this by itself is not a negative thing. One should also take into account other factors in-depth, as we do for each tent.

When we tally up the score of a tent, we study a good deal of data points, finding areas where the tent could shine against other similar tents and where it is not quite as good. On this occasion, with an overall score of 4.6 and the price conclusions above, we can notice that with a price of $379.99 The Prairie Breeze 9 is a superb deal even though it could be considered a tiny bit costly when set side by side with comparable tents.

The ratings show that the quality and dimensions the tent offers make it a fantastic buy for people searching for a tent that can be used for many years. It is also worth thinking about the fact that it is reduced by 0% from the manufactures suggested retail price. It should make a good choice for most campers searching for a comfy three-season cabin tent to camp with, that should serve you well for years to come.
