Summary: Favorable Reviews

Some campers who used the tent said: It is good that it provides its own tarp compared to other hammocks. I am glad that there is no need to be seam-sealed because itís sewn with thread that expands when it gets wet. Setting up was fast and easy. Plus, it gives the right amount of warm during your cold camping days.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

People who used the tent said: Suitable for rainy days but not on icy weather conditions. They also do not seem to have a good way to attach guyline. I suggest they could run some cord around the button snap that connects them. The flaps could also be bigger.

Many of the great things about hammock tents are, that they are for, the most part light, making them simple to carry around. In most all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the hammock type. They are usually, freestanding and very easy to set up. In good weather, you could do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is recommended.

Hammock tents are the most commonly seen of all the various sorts of tents you will find when camping. They tend to fair better in storms than other types, allowing water to roll off the sloped walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the rain to pool on the top. The most straightforward hammock tent should have a rectangular footprint, slanted sides two or more poles which converge in the center of the roof. Because of the way they are made, it is generally thought of that they are ideal for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Underneath you can browse a list of the tent's pros and cons.

  1. Freestanding. The Tetrapod can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Internal storage. It is good to see Nemo Equipment has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your things.
  3. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the entire body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 0mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  4. Low price. It is a great purchase for a 1 person hammock tent providing this much space. Not many tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $249.95

  1. Lacking in Headroom. With 41% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative thing for some people.
  2. No Vestibules. If you want to keep your dirty shoes, clothes, and backpacks protected from the elements, you will have to store them inside the tent.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, The floor may be made of tough fabric but it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. Discontinued: Unfortunately this particular tent has been discontinued on the manufactures website and is not available elsewhere, that we are aware of.

Nemo Equipment's Tetrapod 1 tent is great for backpacking. Here are a couple of other nice points not already mentioned above which, were found and liked, while reviewing the model: Sliding overhead pocket for stashing small essentials, Has two wings that can be staked out using elastic guylines that form convenient gear shelves and Has a webbing loop to the outside of each cinch buckle which makes it easier to hold onto the hammock when putting it up and taking it down.

In case you simply happened to land on this page while browsing for a new tent having not heard of this manufacture or this model before, it is probably a good thing to check out some more comparable tents.

Value for money: When thinking about value for money, this tent is a lot cheaper than the standard price of all the seventy-nine, one-person tents we have taken a look at, all alone this does not make it good value for money. We also need to look at other things in detail, as we do with each tent.

When we determine the ratings of a single tent, we consider plenty of stuff, searching for points where the tent could outdo other very similar tents and where it is lacking. In this case, with a total score of 4.2 and the price details above, It is simple to notice that with a price of $249.95 The Tetrapod 1 is a very good buy and astonishingly cheap in comparison with similar tents.
