Love how its waterproof features worked lik charm during rainstorms. Small little pockets also helped me to organize not only my gears but also other things. Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Some people who used the tent said: The design needs a little bit of improvement. Vestibule guyout sometimes interferes with egress. During a bad weather also, Getting poles into sleeves is a bit tough; however, it is manageable. I am not recommending it during heavy weather conditions.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Stormking 5 has two windows and two doors and a maximum center height of 5' 4, which is 21 inches less than the average height of the 26 various 5 person tents we have examined With 64 square feet of space inside, it is considerably smaller than some other 5-person tents, and it would be quite cramped for you and, up to four other campers during the whole of the 4-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, smaller tents like this one can generally make a good choice for campers who like spending loads of hours outside of their tent exploring.

A few of the great points about dome tents are, that they are under normal circumstances not too heavy, making them easy to carry around. In most all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very straightforward to set up. In good weather, you could do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are without a doubt the most commonly seen of all the other sorts of tents you will see when camping. They tend to fair better in bad weather than other types, allowing rain to easily slide off the slanted walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, allowing the rain to pool on the top. The most straightforward dome tent should have a rectangular footprint, sloped walls two or more poles which converge in the center of the roof. Due to their construction, it is usually thought of that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Below you can check out a list of the tent's pros and cons.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Stormking can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibule. Having one vestibule. Gives you somewhere to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  3. Has Gear Loft. It is nice to see MSR adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  5. More than one window. With 2 windows it is easier to keep the tent ventilated on a hot summers night.
  6. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 40D ripstop nylon Durashield, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to rips and punctures. Also, the material has a 10000 mm waterproofing rating, which is pretty good for most circumstances.

CONS

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 64 square feet, the Stormking 5 is smaller than quite a few of the 30 other 5 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 21% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative factor for some campers.
  3. Rainfly does not completely cover the tent body. The rainfly only covers the ceiling and part of the tent body from the top. Meaning it may not protect against heavy downpours.
  4. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately specifically for the Stormking 5 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 40D ripstop nylon Durashield, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  5. Discontinued: Unfortunately this particular tent has been discontinued on the manufactures site and is not available elsewhere, that we are aware of.
  6. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many things to rave about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.6 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.6 STARS

MSR's Stormking 5 tent is suitable for base camp and expeditions. There are a few other points not noted above which, we noticed and liked, while researching the model: Sturdy design with frame restrictor clips and equalized tension offers superior strength and stability., The tent frame now features durable Easton Syclone poles that are virtually indestructible in severe conditions and The super-robust dome design provides plenty of interior space, and the massive front vestibule and small side vestibule let you store all the gear you need for your activities..

With awesome ratings, a few reviews and headroom of 5' and 64 square feet of space to enjoy, this tent is like your very own miniature home away from home. This will allow you together with 3 other friends to spend some real quality moments enjoying nature. We found a decent amount of positive points about the tent that you can look at above.

If you found this website looking for recommendations on this actual tent, we think, it will make for an excellent acquisition. If you simply happened to land on this website while browsing for a brand new tent having not heard of this brand or this model previously, it is probably a good thing to check out a few more similar tents also.

Value for money: In so much as value for money, this tent is undoubtedly more costly than the average price of all the twenty-six, five-person tents we have looked at, this just by itself is not a negative thing. We also need to think about other factors in-depth, as we do for every tent.

When we measure the ratings of a single tent, we examine loads of data points, searching for points where the tent could exceed other similar tents and where it is lacking. In this case, with a total rating of 4.6 and the price knowledge above, It is simple enough to view that with a price point of $1499.94 The Stormking 5 is a superb bargain though it could be thought of as very costly when compared with comparable tents.

The ratings show that the quality and size the tent offers make it a remarkable purchase for those wanting a tent that can last for many years. It should make a decent choice for nearly all campers looking for a comfy four-season dome tent to go camping with, that should serve you well for years to come.
