Easy assembly with pole clips that quickly snap over the tent poles

Green Thumbs Up Logo

Summary: Favorable Reviews

Good quality materials used. Has vertical walls to maximize usable space inside. It only has two poles, which make the tent easy to set up but also sturdy. The Ventilation is excellent, especially for warm nights.

Teal Thumbs Down Logo

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

During rain, the tent catches some water on its corners. If the rainfly is not attached correctly, water may leak to the interior. There are also some reports of seams ripping and splitting suddenly.

The Glacier 4 has two windows and two doors and a peak center height of 6' 0 which is a little bit more than the average height of the 129 other 4 person tents we have studied. With 72 square feet of space inside, it is considerably larger than some other 4-person tents, and it easily offers enough room for you and, up to three other campers all through the 3-seasons this tent is suggested for. Smaller tents similar to this one generally make a really good choice for campers who prefer spending plenty of time outside their tent getting some air.

Some of the cool points about dome tents are, that they are generally speaking lightweight, making them easy to carry around. In most all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very simple to set up. In calm weather, you could do without guy lines and stakes 'not that this is recommended' Dome tents are easily the most commonly seen of all the other types of tents you will find when camping. They tend to fair better in the rain than other types, allowing water to roll off the sloped walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, resulting in the water pooling on the top of the tent. The most straightforward dome tent should have a square floor, sloped sides a couple of poles which converge in the center of the roof. Because of the way they are made, it is usually thought of that they are ideal for up to a maximum of 6 people.

Down below, you can see an account of the tent's pros and cons.

  1. Freestanding. The Glacier can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not even have to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Tons of Headroom. With 8% more headroom than similar size tents, one can easily count this as a plus.
  3. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Offers you a place to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  4. Has Gear Loft. It is nice to see Browning Camping adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  5. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is simpler to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  6. More than one window. With 2 openings it is easier to keep the tent cool on a hot summers night.
  7. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 210D polyester oxford, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to tears and punctures. Also, the material has a 2000 mm waterproofing rating, which is very good for most circumstances.
  8. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the whole body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1500mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  9. Plenty of Positive Reviews The Glacier 4 has Lots of fantastic Reviews
  10. Great Ratings The Glacier 4 has some of the best ratings of all the tents on

  1. Susceptible to wind. Because of its size and shape, the Glacier may not do well in strong winds if it is not firmly secured with the provided guy lines and stakes. Even though the tent is listed as freestanding in all but very calm conditions, one would need to stake and tie it down correctly.
  2. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately designed for the Glacier 4 footprint The floor may be made of 210D polyester oxford, it is still though best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  3. Out of StockUnfortunately this particular tent is not currently in stock. It is still on the manufactures site the last time we looked.
  4. A tad heavy for backpacking. Even though the Glacier 4, looks like a small tent, it is not ideal for backpacking as it weighs 21 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  5. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have heaps of things to rave about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.
