Summary: Favorable Reviews

People who bought the tent noted that: The interior design was a great idea. It stood up pretty great in high winds and lots of snow. Fabric is a plus since it's tough and thick, and the extra length made it a lot easier even without a vestibule.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Some of the campers who used it said: Not a beginner-friendly tent. Setting poles on the inside takes a little getting used to. The tent was not also compact as I was expecting it. A bit heavier compared to the tents of other brands with the same price.

The Eldorado 2 has one door and a maximum center height of 3' 7, which is a tiny bit smaller than the average height of the 240 different 2 person tents we have studied. With 31 square feet of room inside, it is a tiny bit smaller than some other 2-person tents, and it could be a little cramped for you and, another camper all through the 4-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, smaller tents similar to this one often can make a superb choice for people who like spending lots of hours outside of the tent enjoying the fresh air.

A few of the cool points about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part not too heavy, making them simple to carry around. In nearly all cases, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very easy to set up. In calm weather, you could do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are easily the most common of all the different sorts of tents you will see when camping. They tend to do better in the rain than other types, allowing rain to easily slide off the sloped walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the water to pool on the roof. The most basic dome tent should have a square floor, slanted sides two or more poles which cross in the middle of the roof. Because of the way they are made, it is usually considered that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Underneath you can browse a list of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

  1. Freestanding. The Eldorado can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the ground with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibule. Having one vestibule. Gives you somewhere to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Internal storage. It is good to see Black Diamond has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your stuff.

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 31 square feet, the Eldorado 2 is smaller than quite a few of the 251 other 2 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 6% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative factor for some people.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one available separately specifically for the Eldorado 2 footprint Even though the floor may be made of ToddTex Fabric, it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. Out of Stock. Unfortunately this particular tent is not currently in stock. It is still on the manufactures website the last time we looked.
  5. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many attributes to rave about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

Our Ratings: 4.2 STARS

Black Diamond's Eldorado 2 tent is ideal for mountaineering and backpacking. Here are a couple of other nice points not noted above which, were found and liked, while reviewing the model: Extra room to accommodate taller climbers or extra gear storage., Two zippered vents at the peak and A hooded vent over the door and one at the bottom.

With good ratings, a few reviews and a peak height of 3' and 31 square feet of space to play with, this tent is like your very own miniature home away from home. It will allow you to enjoy some real quality moments exploring the great outdoors. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can read through above.

If you came to this page looking for suggestions on this particular tent, we think, it will make for a great buy. In case you simply happened to arrive on this page while browsing for a new tent having not heard of this manufacture or this tent model previously, it is possibly a good thing to check out a few more similar tents.

Value for money: In so much as value for your dollar, this tent is undoubtedly pricier than the usual price of all the two hundred and fourty, two-person tents we have looked at, this alone by itself is not a negative thing. One should also take into account other things in detail, as we do for every tent.

When we determine the valuation of a single tent, we regard plenty of stuff, finding things where the tent could exceed other very similar tents and where it is coming up short. In this case, with an overall score of 4.2 and the price details above, It is simple enough to identify that with a price of $899.95 Black Diamond's Eldorado 2 is a very good buy even though it could be considered quite expensive when compared with comparable tents.

The ratings show that the quality and size the tent gives you make it a suitable buy for people looking for a tent that can be used for lots of years. It will make an ok choice for nearly all campers searching for an adequate four-season backpacking tent to go camping with, that should serve you well for years to come.
