Summary: Favorable Reviews

Campers, who purchased the tent said: It sets up and disassembles easily and quickly. Vestibules are the perfect size, suitable for two persons, waterproof, plus the great idea of making it two doors. Definitely waterproof. Not even a drop of water comes into the tent. Some have issues with the poles, but for others, it worked perfectly. It's easy to set up and spacious. Larger than expected. It has more than enough headroom inside.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Acadia 4 has two doors and a peak center height of 5' 11, which is a tiny bit bigger than the average height of the 134 various 4 person tents we have studied. With 57 square feet of room inside, it is significantly smaller than some other 4-person tents, and it would be quite cramped for you and, up to three other campers during the 3-seasons, this tent is suggested for use in, smaller tents like this one often can make a very good choice for people who like spending heaps of hours outside of the tent enjoying the fresh air.

Some of the cool things about dome tents are, that they are for, the most part lightweight, making them simple to carry. In nearly all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are usually, freestanding and very easy to set up. In good weather, you can do without securing the tent with stakes and ropes, not that this is suggested.

Dome tents are the most common of all the various types of tents you will see when camping. They tend to fair better in bad weather than other types, allowing rain to roll off the slanted walls, unlike cabin tents that have flat roofs, allowing the water to pool on the top. The most straightforward dome tent should have a square floor, slanted walls a couple of poles which converge in the middle of the roof. Due to their construction, it is typically thought of that they are best suited for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Underneath you can check out an account of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Acadia can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Plenty of Headroom. With 8% more headroom than similar size tents, one can easily count this as a plus.
  3. Vestibules. Having two vestibules. Gives you a place to store shoes and other items that can get dirty, muddy, this is a big plus.
  4. Internal storage. It is good to see Kelty has added a gear loft and pockets in the interior to store some of your things.
  5. More than one door. With 2 doors, it is easier to get in and out of the tent, in the middle of the night if needed.
  6. Breathable. The Acadia's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the warmer months.
  7. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the entire body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1800mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy downpours.
  8. Available in other sizes. Kelty has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  9. Low price. It is a great deal for a 4 person dome tent providing this much space. Not a lot of tents available on the market give this level of quality for only $189.95

CONS

  1. Vulnerable to wind. Because of its size and shape, the Acadia may not do well in strong winds if it is not firmly secured with the provided guy lines and stakes. Even though the tent is listed as freestanding in all but very calm conditions, one would need to stake and tie it down correctly.
  2. Not roomy. With a floor area of 57 square feet, the Acadia 4 is smaller than quite a few of the 134 other 4 person tents we have looked at.
  3. No windows. With no windows it is not easy to keep the tent ventilated on a hot summers night.
  4. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, The floor may be made of 68D Polyester but it is still best to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  5. Discontinued: Unfortunately this particular tent has been discontinued on the manufactures website and is no longer available elsewhere, that we are aware of.
  6. A little heavy for backpacking. Even though the Acadia 4, looks like a small tent, it is not ideal for backpacking as it weighs 12 pounds. This is quite a lot more than many other backpacking tents
  7. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many qualities to be positive about. The sloping sides do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION

4.6 Stars Logo

Our Ratings: 4.6 STARS

Kelty's Acadia 4 tent is suitable for car camping. There are a few other points not already mentioned above which, we found and liked, while reviewing the model: Dual doors and vestibules offer escape routes and gear storage for each camper, Fly attaches to tent via easy-to-use and secure side-release buckles and All seams are factory-taped to ensure excellent weather protection.

With fantastic ratings, tons of reviews and a peak height of 5' and 57 square feet of area to sleep, this tent is like your very own little apartment. This enables you together with 2 other people to share some real quality moments in the outdoors together. We found a decent amount of pros about the tent that you can read through above.

If you found this page looking for suggestions on this specific tent, our view is, it would make for an excellent acquisition. In case you just happened to arrive on this page while looking for a new tent having never heard of this brand or this model before, it is probably a good thing to check out a few more comparable tents.

Value for money: In terms of value for money, this tent is undoubtedly cheaper than the normal cost of all the one hundred and fifty-four, four-person tents we have looked at, this alone does not make it excellent value for money. We also need to take a look at other things in-depth, as we do for every tent.

When we determine the ratings of a tent, we regard loads of data points, searching for areas where the tent could exceed other near-identical tents and where it is not quite as good. On this occasion, with a total score of 4.6 and the price statistics above, one can view that with a cost of $189.95 Kelty's Acadia 4 is a remarkable purchase and fabulously competitively priced in comparison with similar tents.

Its overall score shows that the build and capacity the tent provides were not in any way skimped on to get a price well below the standard price for comparable tents. It is also worth noting it is discounted by 0% from the manufactures suggested price. It should make a remarkable choice for most people searching for a comfy three-season dome tent to camp with, that will serve you well for years to come.
