Summary: Favorable Reviews

Campers who used it said: You can set this up and take it down without any effort in about 2 minutes. Lightweight yet spacious. Perfect for single person. You can freely move around in any position you choose. Also, the ventilation is rather decent.

Summary: Unfavorable Reviews

Some people who bough it said: A footprint is required when it is raining. Moisture might pass through the floor, but it might not. The risks are not too high. If you intend to use this in challenging circumstances, such as strong winds, you might want to get some stakes that are heavier duty.

SPECS AND CONFIGURATIONS

The Felis 1 has one door and a peak center height of 3' 0, which is a little bit smaller than the average height of the 84 different 1 person tents we have examined With 20 square feet of room inside, it is a lot smaller than some other 1-person tents, and it would be quite cramped for you throughout the 3-seasons, this tent is recommended for use in, smaller tents similar to this one make a superb choice for campers who enjoy spending plenty of hours outside exploring the great outdoors.

Many of the cool things about dome tents are, that they are under normal circumstances light, making them simple to carry. In most all instances, tents used for backpacking are of the dome type. They are generally speaking, freestanding and very easy to set up. In good weather, you can do without guy lines and stakes, not that this is recommended.

Dome tents are the most common of all the various types of tents you will find when camping. They tend to do better in bad weather than other types, allowing water to roll off the slanted sides, unlike cabin tents that have flat tops, allowing the rain to pool on the top. The most basic dome tent should have a rectangular footprint, slanted walls a couple of poles which cross in the middle of the roof. Due to the way they are made, it is generally thought of that they are best for up to a maximum of 6 campers.

Down below, you can browse an account of the tent's strongest and weakest points.

PROS

  1. Freestanding. The Felis can support its own weight on any terrain. It does not need to be staked down in most cases. But in case of strong winds, it is always best to secure it to the floor with the included steel stakes and guylines.
  2. Vestibule. Having one vestibule. Gives you somewhere to store shoes and other things that can get dirty, muddy, this is a huge plus.
  3. Has Gear Loft. It is nice to see Alps Mountaineering adding a gear loft in the interior to store some of your things.
  4. Durable, water-resistant floor. The floor material is 75D 185T poly taffeta, which is a substantially thick and high-strength fabric. Meaning the base is not prone to tears and punctures. Also, the material has a 2000 mm waterproofing rating, which is pretty good for most circumstances.
  5. Breathable. The Felis's interior uses a mesh fabric on the inside of the tent, and this helps maximize the flow of air. With the extra ventilation, and this tent is great for use in the summer.
  6. The rainfly completely covers the tent body. The rainfly covers the entire body of the tent from the top to the bottom and has a waterproof rating of 1500mm. Meaning it will easily protect you against heavy rain.
  7. Other sizes are available. Alps Mountaineering has also made this model available in Other Sizes.
  8. Low price. It is a great purchase for a 1 person dome tent that provides this much space. Not a lot of tents available on the market provide this level of quality for only $139.99 info_outline

CONS

  1. Not roomy. With a floor area of 20 square feet, the Felis 1 is smaller than quite a lot of the 85 other 1 person tents we have looked at.
  2. Lacking in Headroom. With 5% less headroom than similar sized tents, one can see how this could be a negative factor for some people.
  3. Footprint not Included. There is no included footprint, there is one sold separately specifically for the Felis 1 footprint Even though the floor may be made of 75D 185T poly taffeta, it is still better to protect it further with a footprint, especially on rough terrain.
  4. Sloping walls. Even though Dome tents have many qualities to be positive about. The sloping walls do tend to make it all the more smaller inside.

CONCLUSION
